Stefanie Stuber is not into the normal pop scene of Germany’s The Voice. For her performance on the singing competition, her voice started in a low ghoulish growl — reminiscent of the native German band Rammstein — during her cover of “Ghost Walking” by American heavy metal band Lamb of God.
The cross-cultural moment struck a chord with the coaches, who were clearly shocked by her transition to more mellifluous, yet still robust, vocals during her performance. They were even more surprised when they turned around to see that a woman was behind the throaty cover.
This isn’t Stuber’s first go at heavy metal: She’s been in numerous bands, from Mission in Black to Enslave the Chain, according to Revolver.
