Seasoned actor Wesley Snipes found out his infamous role in the Blade film had gone to Mahershala Ali just like the rest of us — on the internet.
Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige made the reveal at Comic-Con earlier this month and confirmed Ali would star in the remake.

In a statement obtained by the comicbook website, Snipes admitted he was caught off guard but encouraged his fans to calm down. Several people were upset when they discovered Snipes didn’t get the role.
“To all the DAYWALKERS losing their minds right now, chillaaxx,” Snipes said. “Although the news comes as a surprise, it’s ALL GOOD. Such is the ‘business’ of ‘entertainment!’ Much peace to the MCU crew – always a fan. Honor and respect to the grandmaster Stan [Lee]. Congratulations and Salaam to Mahershala Ali, a beautiful and talented artist whose expressions I look forward to experiencing for many years to come.
“Inshallah, we will someday work together. Most importantly to my loyal fans, the incredible outpouring of love is overwhelming. I am grateful for the never-ending support. So, ‘nah fret nah worry, it’s not de end of de story.’ Welcome to the Daywalker Klique.”
The original Blade was released in 1998 and starred Snipes as the title character. The film was a commercial success, grossing $70 million at the U.S. box office and $131.2 million worldwide.
