Wale seems to be getting back to himself once again, as he's revamped his activity on social media and in the studio. After parting ways with Atlantic Records earlier this year, the 33-year-old returns without notice to release the four-track EP, It's Complicated. The project only sees one feature throughout with R&B crooner Jacquees on “Black Bonnie.”
The Every Blue Moon artist teased fans Monday on his Instagram Story, joined by Pharrell, that he would be dropping some new music overnight. “DMV! He's trying to do that cool artsy shit, but that's Pharrell y'all. This me. I'm dropping something tonight ah,” he said.
He later tweeted minutes before the EP's midnight release, “Thank u all for ur patience. Now… I been thinkin about my next move. I wrote a story about 'a' love life …in the midst figuring out to 'go next'…(this message will self destruct),” Wale concluded.
The Shine artist has kept his lyrical ability sharp in 2018 with tracks such as “All-Star Break Up,” which was released just in time for Valentine's Day, remixing SZA's “The Weekend” and most recently by boasting his “Staying Power.”
Wale even playfully poked fun at A-list couple Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid cutting f their relationship on Twitter, with shrewd wordplay promoting the newly released project's title: “Yo @zaynmalik @GiGiHadid . .. #ItsComplicated out here we feel y’all,” he jokingly wrote.
