VH1's annual Mother's Day celebration, Dear Mama: A Love Letter to Mom, is back with some of the biggest names in Hollywood honoring the women who made their journeys possible. VH1 today (May 1) announced that T.I., Tameka ‘Tiny’ Harris, Monica, and Luke James are among those expected to make appearances and tributes. The special will premiere on Monday (May 6).
Emmy-nominated actor Anthony Anderson and author/entrepreneur/actress La La Anthony return as co-hosts of the event. T.I. will honor the powerful women in his life including his mom, Violetta Morgan, his late sister, Precious Harris, his wife Tiny, and her mother, Dianne Cottle-Pope.
R&B singer-songwriter James will perform in celebration of all of the mothers in the room, while R&B artists Shai and SWV will join H.E.R. onstage for a special tribute that honors the mothers in their lives.
Previously announced artists set to make performances on the special include Ashanti and H.E.R. Ciara will also make an appearance on behalf of the #SeeHer initiative, which honors deserving moms for the accomplishments they've made in their organization's mission to increase accurate representation of women and girls in advertising and media.
Dear Mama: A Love Letter to Mom will take place at The Theatre at the Ace Hotel in downtown Los Angeles and will air on May 6 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on VH1.
