No matter how much Lizzo accomplishes or how many Grammy Awards line her shelves, her weight will always be scrutinized. Why? Her body type doesn’t squeeze into the mold of what is considered conventionally beautiful — especially for a pop star.

But she truly doesn’t care about the pressure to be stick thin and has built her entire career around being a role model for body positivity. Earlier this week, the platinum-selling star shared a TikTok video showing herself exercising and had a clear message for all her haters.

“I have been working out consistently for the last five years and it may come as a surprise to some of y’all that I’m not working out to have your ideal body type. I’m working out to have my ideal body type and you know what type that is? None of your fucking business ’cause I am beautiful. I am strong. I do my job and I stay on my job.

“So next time you wanna come to somebody and judge them whether they drink kale smoothies or eat McDonald’s or work out or not work out, how about you look at your own fucking self and worry about your own god damn body because health is not just determined on what you look like on the outside, health is also what happens on the inside. And a lot of y’all need to do a fucking cleanse for your insides. Namaste. Have a great day.”

Lizzo’s body is consistently a topic of conversation. While she has no problems showing it off and takes pride in her appearance, apparently others take offense to it.

Last December, Dr. Boyce Watkins claimed Lizzo was only famous because of the United States’ obesity epidemic, stating, “Lizzo is popular is because there is an obesity epidemic in America. Rather than encouraging people to do better, we are simply lying to them and telling them that they are just fine the way they are. Unfortunately, many of these people are dying from diabetes and heart disease.”

The 32-year-old fired back, “I’m popular because I write good songs and I’m talented and perform high energy hour and a half shows filled with love,” she wrote. “The only person who needs to do better is you. Keep my name out ya mouth & look in the mirror before you come for me. Here’s the attention you ordered.”

Lizzo’s latest sentiments got people riled up on Twitter. Check out some of the reactions below.
