Lil Wayne is currently five albums deep into Tha Carter series and according to a recent interview with Variety, there’s another one in the works.

While speaking to the outlet, the multiplatinum-selling rapper was asked which of the Carter albums was his favorite to which he replied, “My favorite Carter album is the next one.”

The Young Money powerhouse dropped the original Carter project in 2004, Tha Carter II in 2005, Tha Carter III in 2008 and Tha Carter IV in 2011. Tha Carter V finally arrived in 2018 after years of negotiations between himself and Cash Money Records.

The project featured several notable artists, including Snoop Dogg, Nicki Minaj, Travis Scott and Ashanti and entered the Billboard 200 chart at No. 1, selling roughly 480,000 equivalent albums sales in its first week, the second-largest streaming week for an album.

Wayne is singing a different tune than he was during an interview with Q93 in New Orleans last summer. At the time, he alluded the future of the series was uncertain, saying, “I’m not sure. I wouldn’t count it out.”

Tha Carter VI title was also entangled in some red tape. Young Thug attempted to claim the name due to their apparent beef in 2014, but Wayne reportedly got his legal team involved and Thug changed the title of his album to Barter 6.

Wayne has been keeping himself busy during quarantine. He launched a new interview show with Apple Music called Young Money Radio in April and consistently features high profile guests such as Eminem, Dr. Dre and, more recently, 50 Cent.

He also celebrated the fifth anniversary of the Free Weezy Album by making it available on streaming services for the first time. He and longtime collaborator Mannie Fresh also teased a release date for a joint album during an episode of Young Money Radio earlier this month.
