In the wake of Pop Smoke's death this week, the rapper's friend and collaborator Lil Tjay unveiled a song in tribute to his memory on Friday (Feb. 21).

Titled "Forever Pop," the track finds Lil Tjay mourning and questioning the sudden loss of his fellow hip-hop up-and-comer, who was killed in a reported home invasion in Hollywood Hills on Thursday (Feb. 20).

"Can’t believe this s–t, can’t believe this s–t is true/ Took you out your glory, who would’ve wanted to see you lose?/ Woke up in the morning, seen my n—a on the news/ And I’m still like 'damn,' tryna put together screws," Lil Tjay laments over a clap-driven, mid-tempo beat.

The two rising stars first collaborated on Pop Smoke's 2019 single "War," and more recently joined forces again for "Mannequin" off the late rapper's 2020 mixtape Meet the Woo 2, which was released less than two weeks before his death.
