Los Angeles, CA – Ice Cube launched his lucrative film career with 1991’s Boyz n the Hood, but it was 1995’s Friday that gave him his first producer and screenwriter credits.

His character in the classic film, Craig Jones, also delivered some unforgettable lines, one of which he resurrected on Tuesday (June 9) when he learned Cops had been canceled.

The West Coast gangsta rap pioneer and seasoned actor hit Twitter and retweeted a TMZ article about the announcement. He wrote in the caption, “Bye Felicia.”

According to Variety, Paramount Network canceled the long-running television series four days after it announced the show had been pulled. A Paramount Network spokesperson said, “Cops is not on the Paramount Network and we don’t have any current or future plans for it to return.”

The initial decision to suspend Cops was brought on by the countless protests against police brutality following George Floyd’s death at the hands of Minnesota police officers.

Originally launched on Fox in 1989, the controversial show has been criticized over the years for its depiction of law enforcement and questionable behind-the-scenes practices.

Cops was the focus of a recent podcast hosted by Dan Taberski called Running From Cops. Taberski and his team combed through hundreds of episodes and picked apart instances where people were “coerced into signing waivers and how production allows police to edit and remove anything that might paint them in a negative light.”

Cube has been shouting “Fuck Tha Police” alongside his N.W.A brethren since 1988 and was one of the first Hip Hop artists to publicly express his outrage over Floyd’s death last month.
