“Under Your Scars” leaps 2-1 on the July 27-dated list.
Godsmack's "Under Your Scars" becomes the veteran act's 10th leader and third in a row on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Songs airplay chart, moving 2-1 on the July 27-dated tally.
The track climbs to the top with a 5% gain in plays at the format in the week ending July 21, according to Nielsen Music.
The group strings together its first set of back-to-back-to-back No. 1s, and parent album When Legends Rise becomes its first to generate a trio of toppers, with "Under Your Scars" following "Bulletproof" (May 2018) and "When Legends Rise" (December 2018), the latter two both five-week rulers.
Previously, Godsmack ruled Mainstream Rock Songs with two straight No. 1s with “I Stand Alone” and “Straight Out of Line” in 2002 and 2003, followed by “Whiskey Hangover” and “Cryin’ Like a Bitch!” in 2009 and 2010.
With 10 rulers, Godsmack slides into a tie for fourth on the chart, which began in 1981, all time, with Tom Petty (solo and with the Heartbreakers). Only three acts have more No. 1s: Three Days Grace (15), Shinedown (14) and Van Halen (13).
When Legends Rise debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 dated May 12, 2018, and has earned 258,000 equivalent album units to date, according to Nielsen Music.
