Freddie Gibbs called his Tiny Desk the concert of the year earlier this week, and it would be tough to argue with his proclamation. MadGibbs took their talents to NPR for the latest installment of the Tiny Desk series, which dropped on Friday (Dec. 6).

NPR notes that the performance was nearly a year in the making, since Gangsta Gibbs held back until he secured an appearance from the NYC-based El Michels Affair funk band and members of The Dap Kings to complete his vision for the perfect Tiny Desk.

With Madlib on the keys, Gibbs on the mic, and the band at their back, they effortlessly ran through four cuts from the veteran duo's acclaimed Bandana album, which included "Education," "Gat Damn," "Soul Right," and "Freestyle S–t."

Gibbs took a moment half-way through to soak in the moment. "We up here working hard. It seems like a fun job, but it's really hard. The degree of difficulty in this s–t is really high," he joked. Following the performance, the Indiana native shared an emotional moment with Madlib, where he thanked him for "taking him to another level" with his art.
