DJ Clark Kent appears to have seen the error of his sneakerhead ways in a moment of quarantine-induced clarity.

On Thursday (April 2), the veteran Hip Hop DJ and producer shared the realization on Twitter, describing his sneaker-hoarding habit more like an addiction.

“Being locked in the house because of Covid-19, has given me serious clarity about these damn sneakers,” he wrote. “This is a sickness. I have way to much. And its time to give some more away. A LOT.”

Kent continued in a separate tweet, “Too many pairs of brand new or worn once shoes that I’m never going to wear. When the lockdown is over, I’m gonna need a space to do a sale for charity. The return of ‘Clark’s Closet.’”

Clark – who produced records for artists such as The Notorious B.I.G. and Mariah Carey – is widely known in the sneaker community for his impressive collection.

In 2018, it was reported he kept over 3,500 pairs in the basement of his New Jersey home, many of which have only been worn once. He’s also collaborated frequently with reputable sneaker brands such as Nike, Adidas and New Balance.

Should Clark decide to sell off his prized shoe collection, it would mark the second time. In 2014, he held his “Clark’s Closet” initiative at the Ultimate Sneaker Expo in New York. Visitors could purchase his size 12 and 13 sneakers, with the proceeds going to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
