Common has been keeping plenty busy this year. In addition to releasing his candid memoir and the Daniel Caesar-assisted "HER Love," the Chicago native returns with another single on Thursday (July 12). The percussion-laden "Hercules" finds Common connecting with Swizz Beatz on the track, who takes the record's energy to the next level.
"This is me rapping, talking shit and being the MC that I am," Common told Ebro Darden of Beats 1 prior to the song's premiere. "I honestly came up with the title by free styling and I said something about Hercules. The beat is hard and sometimes I just want to rhyme. I'm always on some freedom shit. Free your mind. On 'Hercules,' we got my man Swizz Beatz too. I got to give it up."
The Be rapper also broke the news that his new album Let Love will be released on Aug. 30. The LP, which Common says is a mix of Marvin Gaye, DJ Premier, and Radiohead combined into one, features cameos from Leikeli47, BJ the Chicago Kid, A-Trak, Samora Pinderhughes, Jill Scott and Leon Bridges.
