On Wednesday (Feb. 28), Childish Gambino returned to announce the second installment his upcoming PHAROS event.
Gambino's second PHAROS festival — a three-day virtual reality experience — will head to New Zealand on Nov. 23 later this year. According to the app, fans will get the chance to “experience new music” and witness “live dome performances each night” with “special guests.”
The multi-hyphenate artist first debuted his PHAROS festival in 2016 at Joshua Tree National Park in California, where he previewed music from his then-upcoming album Awaken, My Love!
“Pharos is meant to be a communal space — a place that evolves and reacts to the culture,” Glover told Vanity Fair. “We aren’t tied to a format and that lets us adapt in a way that others can’t. We’re selling real intimacy. We protect the experience and it becomes something you genuinely share with the people around you and you take away something special. We’re looking at expanding the world in 2018 — there will be more artists involved.”
Gambino has a major year ahead him, starting with the season two premiere his critically-acclaimed FX series Atlanta on tonight (March 1); in May, the rapper-turned-actor will play Lando Calrissian in the new Star Wars film.
Tickets for the second edition PHAROS are $149 and can be purchased on the app.
