On Monday (June 3), Bon Iver's Justin Vernon returned with "Hey Ma" and "U (Man Like)."

Vernon has gathered a veritable supergroup of collaborators for the uplifting and poignant tracks, which serve as the first new material released through the project in three years. "U (Man Like)" pairs Vernon with Bruce Hornsby, Wassner and Moses Sumney; Bryce Dessner of The National and the Brooklyn Youth Chorus also lend their voices to the rousing ballad.

"Hey Ma" is paired with a lyric video that shows home videos of a young Vernon with his family, and Jenn Wasner (Wye Oak, Flock of Dimes), Jake Luppen (Hippo Campus) and longtime collaborator Brad Cook (Megafaun, DeYarmond Edison) are some of the featured players on the single.

In addition to the singles, Bon Iver announced new tour dates for the fall of 2019: the band, which has grown into an amorphous collective and now features Wassner as a full-time touring member, will kick off their fall run in Missoula, Montana on Aug. 31.

"Hey Ma" and "U (Man Like)" are the first Bon Iver songs since Vernon's 2016 album, 22, A Million; much of his 2017 was spent touring in support of that effort, and 2018 saw the formation of Big Red Machine, his side project with The National's Aaron Dessner, and the release of their self-titled LP.
