"Is this a fever?/ Is this just allergies?"

At this point, none of us really need a reminder to wash our hands properly or self-quarantine in order to slow the spread of the coronavirus. There have been dozens of videos, original songs and daily reminders from health experts about staying safe during the lockdown caused by the global COVID-19 pandemic.

But you know what we kind of did need? A parody of Queen‘s “Bohemian Rhapsody” refashioned as “Coronavirus Rhapsody” with lyrics about the current state of our world, of course.

The track, with new lyrics by Dana Jay Bein and vocals by Adrian Grimes is just meant to be “some humor to see us through the COVID-19 crisis,” according to the description of the video.

“Is this a fever?/ Is this just allergies?/ Caught in a lockdown/ No escape from the family/ Don’t touch your eyes/ Just hand sanitize quickly,” Grimes sings over the iconic track. “I’m just a poor boy/ No job security/ Because of easy spread/ Even though/ I washed my hands/ Laying low/ I look out the window/ The curve doesn’t look an y flatter to me/ To me.”

Grimes also notes that there have been a few comments that the version is insensitive at this time when more than 161,000 cases have been revealed in the U.S., where more than 3,000 people have died from the novel coronavirus to date. “I want to emphasize that I know where these people are coming from,” Grimes wrote.

“My wife works in healthcare and I have two young kids; I know very well how this virus could impact my family. Every day that my wife goes to work, I hope it is another ‘bonus’ day we get together before the wave hits and I don’t have to quarantine her and stop our children from hugging her. However, I hope that even in those circumstances, should they occur, I will still be able to maintain a sense of humor, and a lot of comments from people already affected by coronavirus have told me how much they appreciate this. I thank you for your understanding in these unprecedented times.”
