Singer will talk about the movie and soundtrack during a prime-time ABC special on Tuesday night (July 16).
Beyoncé revealed the star-packed track listing to The Lion King: The Gift album she curated for the reboot of the classic Disney film, telling Good Morning America on Tuesday (July 16) that the album is her attempt to create a "love letter to Africa."
It features several tracks with vocals from the movie's star, as well as songs featuring Burna Boy, Kendrick Lamar, Jay-Z, Childish Gambino, Pharrell, daughter Blue Ivy Carter, Wiz Kid, Tiera Whack, 070 Shake and a number of African artists. (See the full track list below).
"This soundtrack is a love letter to Africa and I wanted to make sure we found the best talent from Africa, and not just use some of the sounds and did my interpretation of it," the singer told ABC News. "I wanted it to be authentic to what is beautiful about the music in Africa," she added of the album, which features drums and chants mixed with "incredible new sounds mixed with some of the producers from America…each song tells the story of the film."
.@Beyonce on “Spirit”: “The soundtrack is a love letter to Africa…it becomes visual in your mind. It's a soundscape.”

The 14-track album will release on Friday (July 19), the same day as the Jon Favreau-directed re-imagining of the film which stars Keegan-Michael Key, Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, John Oliver, Eric Andre, James Earl Jones, JD McCrary, Florence Kasumba and more.
In a previous announcement for The Gift, Queen Bey described the album as "sonic cinema…this is a new experience of storytelling. I wanted to do more than find a collection of songs that were inspired by the film. It is a mixture of genres and collaboration that isn’t one sound. It is influenced by everything from R&B, pop, hip hop and Afro Beat. I wanted to put everyone on their own journey to link the storyline. Each song was written to reflect the film’s storytelling that gives the listener a chance to imagine their own imagery, while listening to a new contemporary interpretation. It was important that the music was not only performed by the most interesting and talented artists but also produced by the best African producers. Authenticity and heart were important to me.”
The cover of The Gift — executive-produced by Bey — features a pair of golden lions, with one biting the tail of the other. Robin Roberts will host an ABC News special, "The Lion King: Can You Feel the Love Tonight," (8:00 p.m. ET) on Tuesday night featuring the cast of the film and an exclusive, unreleased scene from the movie. The special will also feature the exclusive world premiere of Beyoncé's video for "Spirit" and an interview with the singer.
A 19-track official soundtrack for the film hit streaming services on July 11, with score by conductor Hans Zimmer, as well as songs with McCrary and Shahadi Wright Joseph, Oliver, Eichner, Rogen, Beyoncé, Rogen, Glover and Elton John, among others.
