According to JAY-Z, “No one wins when the family feuds.” Fans the 48-year-old rapper and wife Beyonce all win, however, when the pair decides to go on tour: On The Run II is ficially happening.
Here’s a play-by-play what we know about the highly anticipated sequel team-up trek so far.
February 21: Ticketmaster UK allegedly put up a link to purchase tickets for a JAY-Z/Beyonce tour. The post was removed as quickly as it went up, but a stealthy fan grabbed a screenshot.
March 5: The rumors a joint tour were fueled once again when Facebook and Ticketmaster both posted event dates for the tour. Just as before, the posts were removed within minutes. Here’s a screenshot that detailed a Philadelphia stop on the tour.
March 12: Beyonce took to Instagram to confirm that On The Run II was a go. A video announcement posted by the Lemonade singer featured her and JAY-Z appearing stronger than ever. Set to Marcia Aitken’s “I’m Still In Love With You,” the clip showed stills the previous On The Run tour and a reinforcement their union. OkayAfrica reports that the promo material is an homage to a Senegalese film titled Touki Bouki.
March 19: Tickets for the North American leg the tour were made available to the public on Monday (March 19) after a presale on March 14. Each online ticket purchase was announced to come with a complimentary six month Tidal subscription for new users. To date, there are 35 stops planned — nearly double that the first On the Run tour. For a few the U.K. tour dates, tickets will go on sale March 23.
On The Run II comes months after the release JAY-Z’s confessional 4:44 and over a year after Beyonce’s Lemonade, companion albums that touched on family, personal growth, and rumors infidelity. The couple previously supported these albums on solo tours. The first On The Run tour in 2014 was in support Beyonce’s self-titled album and JAY-Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail, both released in 2013.
