DJ Premier and Royce Da 5'9 reunited to unload the second part their PRhyme album series earlier this month, and on Tuesday night (March 20), PRhyme paid a visit to The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to treat the audience to a rendition “Flirt.”
Accompanied by 2 Chainz and The Roots, Royce Da 5'9, clad in a dapper tan suit, takes on the subject romance in today's social media-driven world as he raps about his own mishaps — “I had a girl expose me on MediaTakeOut/ And after her 15 minutes fame was up/ She hit my phone back apologizin', askin', “Can we hook up?'” — and how clueless women today are when it comes to the art flirting.
After a lively introduction from Preemo, 2 Chainz bounds onto the stage and details an encounter he had with a materialistic woman as Preemo lays down his trademark scratches and peppers in a few ad-libs his own.
In an interview with Billboard, PRhyme said they knew 2 Chainz would be the perfect fit for the song. “I approved immediately, because we knew 2 Chainz would totally know what to do with a song like this. I called him, explained the concept and he's like “Man, you know that's up my alley,” Preemo said. He added that he's “always been a fan 2 Chainz since Playaz Circle, and I was confident that he was gonna write a dope rhyme. And he did.”
