After unveiling a first round of performers back in May, organizers behind Toronto’s Venus Fest have made a few more key additions to this year’s event.
Toronto experimental mainstay Maylee Todd, 2018 SOCAN Songwriting Prize-winning duo Partner and experimental folk songwriter Ora Cogan have been added to the bill, joining a lineup that already boasts Zola Jesus, Moor Mother, Bully, a l l i e, OSHUN, TiKA, Elle Barbara’s Black Space, Vallens, LOOM and Isla Craig.
Venus Fest has also locked in a pair of parties to open and close the festival. The Venus Fest kickoff event will be held at the Drake Underground on September 15, featuring a performance from Indigenous artist and academic Leanne Simpson, DJ sets and more.
A closing party will follow the fest’s night of programming at the Opera House on September 22, taking place at Farside. Wristband holders will be allowed entry to both events, while individual tickets can be purchased at the door.
As previously reported, the 2018 edition of Venus Fest will take place from September 20 to 22.
The festival’s first evening will be presented at the Mod Club before moving out the Opera House in the city’s East End for the final two evenings.
Three-day passes and individual tickets for the festival are available now, and can be purchased here.
